Album Info:The Missabe Range Historical Society Annual Meet was in Virginia, MN in August 2006. I railfanned the DMIR over that weekend of August 4-6 as well as attended the convention. On Friday, August 4, the sun stayed out until mid-afternoon. I attended the swap meet and social hour at the Meet. On Saturday, after a presentation on the railroad history of the Virginia area, the attendees toured the Laskin power plant and also were treated to a display of the legendary Cliffs Erie F units. On Sunday, a brief trip trackside caught repainted DMIR 404 leaving Minntac. After the Meet breakfast and business meeting, it was trackside again. DMIR 413 departed Minntac headed for Two Harbors. My friend and I chased it as far as Skibo. We ended up eventually at Fairlane. Finally, I caught a train heading out of Proctor Yard to the Duluth dock. It was a great weekend of making new friends and shooting action shots of DMIR engines.
