Album Info:I got going early from Milwaukee and was in Marquette, IA by 0930. The daily Kansas City->St. Paul train was finishing its work. As it readied to leave northbound, the daily St. Paul->Kansas City train arrived. It pulled all the way ahead to McGregor and waited for the MKCSP to depart. Then the MSPKC backed into the Marquette yard to work. A welded rail train led by red DME 6072 was placed in the siding immediately south of the yard. I followed the line to Mason City but saw no trains. I drove through strong wind and occasional patches of driving snow. The Charles City depot remains standing. At Mason City, lots of power was sitting around. At Manly, Iowa Northern 3801 was moving cars around. North of Manly, the snow began in earnest and didn't stop until west of Mankato on US 14. At Waseca, MN, a train was parked on the main, fred on the rear, but without power. West of Waseca, a westbound grain hopper train was ready but lacking a crew. Strong wind and show were an inconvenience. A local was resting at New Ulm. Finally, an eastbound ethanol train was caught in the country east of New Ulm.
